"Your butt looks bigger"
"You aren't supposed to eat that"
"I think your hips are spreading"
"I had a horrible pregnancy - let me tell you all about it..."
"You're how far along? Wow, you'll never make it!"
"Wow, your boobs are huge" (your husband is the only one allowed to say this!)
"Natural birth - WHY?"
"Having a child will change your life"....like I might not have realized this BEFORE I conceived!
"You won't be able to do_______ once you have a baby"
"Fat or pregnant"...you can tell people are thinking this as they look at you when you are still in that "fat girl" stage. They don't want to be rude and actually ask so they just stare you down hoping you'll say it first!
"Are you busting out of your clothes yet?"
"You're naming your kid what...?" This also includes a smirk or giggle when a pregnant woman shares the name that she has fallen in love with for her child.
"Just wait..."
"You have to use ________. It's the only product that worked for me"
I'm sure there are many more that I can add to this list. Pregnancy is supposed to be a happy and exciting time for women. Why is it that other women (some who have not even experienced pregnancy) feel the need to throw in those horrible experiences about their own pregnancies or make comments that make you feel not so good about yourself. Pregnant women have enough to think about (not to mention all of those raging hormones and daily changes in appearance) -- there's no need to fill us in on every detail of rough days ahead or to scare the hell out of us with how much childbirth hurts. I'm pretty sure we all know there is pain involved!
I have been blessed with a great pregnancy so far. Yes, I've had (and continue to have) good days and bad days, but who doesn't! The good ones keep you going and the bad ones just make you stronger! So keep in mind when you're talking to pregnant women - we want to hear happy stories and positive comments (and "your boobs are huge" does not qualify as a positive comment from anyone but my husband!).
